2024 Buick Envision debuts with family styling and large interior screen

Belly showed us the 2024 Imagine in one image almost a year agoand although the wait has been long, we now have all the details on this intersection‘s thorough renewal. And yes, even though we’re already pretty deep into 2024, this refresh is indeed for the 2024 Envision model year.

The major changes outside are clearly visible at first glance when you see the outside Wildcat EV inspired front that has been splashed over Buick’s SUV range. The Envision seems largely the same to the past at the rear, although Buick notes that new badging has been used on the rear. In addition, new 20-inch wheels are standard on both the ST and Avenir trims, while the base Preferred trim makes do with 18-inch wheels.

The powertrain is fully carryover, meaning the only engine option is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque through a nine-speed automatic transmission. One difference for 2024, however, is that all-wheel drive will be made standard, eliminating the cheaper FWD versions.

Buick’s most substantial changes come within the 2024 Envision. It features a 30-inch display as standard that extends across the dashboard and encompasses the instrument cluster and infotainment screen. This also means it has a new center console and center console design that better suits this massive display. Many of the hard buttons for climate control have been eliminated from the center console, but some important, frequently used switches have been retained for easy use. The button-operated ‘shifter’ layout on the center console is also gone, replaced by GM‘s column shifter slowly makes its way through the whole thing General engines queue up. Instead there’s a huge, shiny volume rocker and extra storage capacity.

In terms of luxury and styling, the Envision adds a new red/black and gray/blue interior colour combos, and the front seats themselves are new and more comfortable than before. Ambient lighting has been added to the cabin and Buick says this has improved the finish quality of the center console. If you choose the ST, you also get a steering wheel with a flat bottom for a sportier appearance.

However, more driver assistance systems will be made standard for 2024 Super cruise is not one of them, despite the fact that it is initially touted as one of the new technology items coming to the Envision this year. When asked about its absence, a Buick spokesperson told us this: “The 24MY Envision will no longer debut with Super Cruise, but we plan to bring it to Buick vehicles soon. As timelines shifted, so did our launch of new Super Cruise-equipped vehicles, but we remain committed to bringing the technology to Buick vehicles in the future.”

Prices is also out for the updated Envision, with the entry-level Preferred model starting at $37,295. The ST (shown in red) starts at $37,795, and the top-shelf Avenir (in silver) starts at $48,395. Buick says the updated Envision will be a hit dealers this summer.
